ArchiCad for single practitioner
I still believe that ArchiCad is the easiest software of it's capabilities to learn and is fun to use.
I have been able to use the Teamwork function to expand my capacity when I need more staff on larger projects or when I have a tight schedule. It is best in class.
Pros
I have been using this software for over 22 years and I still have fun using it. ( This is more important than most people think ) The ability to customize the look and feel of the drawings was very important to me coming from a hand drafting beginning.
The logic in the program has always worked in a way that was intuitive to me and therefore fairly easy to learn and use. I appreciate that ArchiCad has been an industry leader in implementation of IFC and working towards interoperability with other programs.
I design custom residential homes and find the precision and ease of designing complex roofs to be very beneficial.
Cons
I have always wanted making of objects to be easier. I do not want to or have the time to learn GDL. To be fair this is becoming less important as more manufacturers are making custom objects available.
