I think it lacks more elements to create different types of diagrams, it also has many options and it is difficult to find the one I need, and finally I would like to see Visio included in the Microsoft office.
Visio is very helpful in that I can rapidly generate any kind of software and organisation diagrams and flow charts that help me make my job more efficient and presentable.
Visio is the finest flow diagram creation tool for charts, graphics etc. I like to use it because it comes with predetermined templates and enables the data displayed to be better organized. It enables you to generate them in a simple manner as it has a user-friendly interface and a lot of predetermined graphical tools and icons choices. It has options that are simple to apply, which we can be used directly and rapidly to produce contemporary diagrams. It should be noted also that although there are numerous templates, you can create the design that you prefer from scratch or blank.
One of Visio's main problems is that it is not compatible with other software. The price is not solidary, in order to use the tool you have to pay a price. Sometimes integration may fail. You can also spend a lot of time selecting shapes, arrows, font size, etc. In addition, this product is frequently updated to slow down the process. There are so many tools and features that finding a specific tool can be complicated, and the menus can become complicated.
Visio is great product for diagrams, even basic diagrams. Though it offers a lot and can seem overwhelming, it can still be great for small to medium charts, floor plans and diagrams etc. It's easy to use, has a load of built in icons and shapes and will help you create better looking diagrams in no time. You can also import vendor icons and other resources to make the diagram more accurate.
A good chunk of my pay is because I know how to use this tool effectively, create a network diagram, update it and being able to read it as it's supposed to be read, it's pretty boring to use after you understand it but work is work.
A MacOSX version and Linux Version would be awesome, many of my coworkers use a VM just to have Visio available on their computers.
